Sometimes being a true radical is a hard thing to do.
This is a movement in a real need of reframing. For those of you who know me well, this is no new news. The sentiment shows up on the front page and in the general character of the site.
A metamorphosis is taking shape and you are part of it. The Theosophical movement has been defined for many years by a top-down nature. Alternately there has been a fiercely independent contrarian movement which has focused on the… Continue

FREE spirited students of Theosophy may be interested in more information concerning the writings of the young archeologist and historian D. M. Murdock, aka Acharya Sanning.
She is especially interesting when compared to the avowed mission of H. P. Blavatsky, to expose dogmatism and materialism in science and religion, (and Theosophy!)
HPB referred to her controversial "Lucifer" magazine as the Theosophical Movement's "combative manas."
"The personal God of… Continue

On August 21st, I posted a blog entitled "How Did Albert Einstein Intuit (Grok) E=mc2?" At the time it was widely believed that there was an extant copy of the Secret Doctrine, annotated by Albert Einstein.
I would like to present the facts as we have found them. In this effort I would like to express appreciation to the following people, with sincerest apologies to anyone who I may have missed:
K. Paul Johnson

Creation philosophy and psychology (5)
In the previous blog posting we halted description at the stage of acting.
Assagioli’s stages end at this point, because he looks at the process moving from inside (will, imagination) to outside (steering of physical act).
There is however also the opposite direction: from outside to inside.
Knoope continues his description… Continue

Theos-talk maillist at yahoo groups was founded on September 15, 2000 by Eldon Tucker and today it celebrates its 10th anniversary of founding. Ten years is a long time in Internet age and theos-talk has played a very important role in theosophical movement during this time because it is independent of all organizations. You can visit theos-talk at:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/

There are some issues regarding the discovery of SD owned by Einstein. I posted a msg on theos-talk, in order not to clutter the blog here. Here is the link to the msg:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/message/54885

Another player in the story of Einstein and his copy of SD, is Laudahn who brought the Jack Brown’s article in Ojai Valley News to the attention of John Algeo. It is not clear if Laudahn is still alive and if he is, may be he can help identify Jack Brown. Her is an excerpt from an article I found in the cyberspace.
“Mr. Laudahn …. . Retired since 1976 and currently a resident of the Theosophical… Continue

One of the traditions long held in the Theosophical Movement is that of not allying with other movements or organizations. In the Sufi conception of "Time, Place, and Circumstance" ideas such as this, like the Catholic tradition of fish on Friday relates to a time when there was a necessity, but whose usefulness has passed.
In the Theosophical tradition, this dates from the time of the alliance of the Theosophical Society with the Araya Samaj, lead by Swami Dyanand Saraswati. The story… Continue

In the current search for the copy of Secret Doctrine that Einstein had, here is a new lead. According to Katinka’s website, it is stated that:
‘The late Dallas Tenbroeck said that this copy was actually seen by him.’
Unfortunately Dallas died a couple of years ago so we do not know how to check this out.
Considering the fact that the collection of transcripts of HPB’s discussions was discovered after a century, it is quite possible that the book is somewhere… Continue

It should not be that difficult to find out more about Jack Brown. I am sure long time residents of Krotona/Ojai would be able to throw some light on this guy. In addition, there is a distinct possibility he may been a member of TS and looking at the membership rolls at Wheaton might yield some results.
Anyone who is reading this has any contact at Ojai, it would be nice to check it out.
Are there any psychics around? May be they can also help not only to track Jack but also… Continue

We should thank the Ojai library for their quick response in providing a copy of the article from their microfilm archives.
I am glad that there is no copyright purist librarian at the library; if so there would have been interminable discussion about the copyright issues, even though here we are all after very important news and information and not any commercial enterprise.
It is not uncommon for theosophical 'scholars' with all their wisdom getting fixated on… Continue

Many today are remembering that awful day 9 years ago in New York City. Like many others I remember where and what I was doing at the time and the surrealness of it all. My thoughts are will all who suffered and my hopes are still that we can make this a better world. Also, I'm quite happy that the Imam was able to get to that country preacher and teach him a lesson or two.
But that's not why I write tonight. This evening we posted some images of an article that appeared in the Ojai… Continue

“Sometimes Teachers and Masters disguise so well that they no longer even recognize themselves. . . .”—General Theosophy

Having been around this movement now for almost 30 years brings about several realizations. First is 'it's been THAT long (!!!!) (although I took a number of years off in the late 90's and early 2000's), and that while the names may change, the game stays the same.
Rewind to a fairly cold day in November of 1999. I had made acquaintance with a speaker from India touring the US, visiting several Theosophical branches. His views were quite unconventional. He had foresworn his Brahmin… Continue

According to the Buddha, all existence is suffering. However we can make it a little easier. In 2005, the term 'lifehack' was coined, primarily to describe shortcuts that programmers used in writing code. Eventually the idea expanded to cover anything that made life easier.
One of the things that Susan and I have always wished for are ways that Theosophy can make everyday life easier and I have written about that idea in this blog several times.
On this site, we have several… Continue
