Late White Lotus Day Meditation

Hi all,I just wrote a blogpost on my Modern Theosophy Blog and not till I was finished did I notice it was the day after White Lotus. Here it is: Theosophists must excuse me for once more butting in where I no longer have any business. I was thinking just now about where the Theosophical Movement went wrong. When did, in…See More

James Davis replied to Katinka Hesselink's discussion Plato & the world of ideas
"Yes, there are archetypes.  They can be experienced.  "It is not words only that are emblematic; it is things which are emblematic. Every natural fact is a symbol of some spiritual fact. The visible creation is the terminus or the…"

Hannes Frischat replied to Katinka Hesselink's discussion Tibetan Buddhist Bardo's - comparable to Blavatsky's 'devachan'?
"If I may, here are three contributions regarding the life as animals: - First, our lower upadhis decay after death, and in several steps. They are in a constant process of diffusing to other beings which is already active during our life this…"

Katinka Hesselink replied to Lady Line's discussion Theosophical view about Wicca?
"Since wicca didn't exist yet in Blavatsky's time (or didn't exist in the way it does today), she didn't say anything about it. However, she would consider any ritual sex (actual sex during ritual) a form of black magic. I guess…"

"Thanks - that is again helpful. In the last paragraph you refer to having published sutras on 'this website' - is that theosophy.net or did you publish them elsewhere? Do give the URL."

David Reigle replied to Katinka Hesselink's discussion Tibetan Buddhist Bardo's - comparable to Blavatsky's 'devachan'?
"As far as I know, no one has published an identification of the Buddhist text that is quoted at the beginning of Mahatma letter #16 (chronological #68), the "devachan" letter. I had hoped to do so earlier, when I said on Sep. 10 that it is…"

Katinka Hesselink replied to Katinka Hesselink's discussion Tibetan Buddhist Bardo's - comparable to Blavatsky's 'devachan'?
"I haven't made up my mind yet about the buddhist vs the theosophical version.  As to your quotes - they do make it clear that you can't find Blavatsky categorically denying rebirth in animal forms in extreme cases. Since we're…"

Jon Fergus replied to Katinka Hesselink's discussion Tibetan Buddhist Bardo's - comparable to Blavatsky's 'devachan'?
"To venture an answer to your question... I'd say that if he has contributed nothing to the higher self through one incarnation (in which he ripped himself free from his higher self), then the higher self would still pass through a devachan, or…"

Introducing myself

I've been studying world religions for years - even went to university to study them there for a few years. The Theosophical Society is a great help to me in that study - right now for instance we're studying the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali in the lodge in The Hague (The Netherlands).

I share my insights on my blog All Considering.
I archive interesting material on any religion I'm studying at my website Katinka Hesselink Net. It has a large section on theosophy and theosophical history. See also the sections on Jiddu Krishnamurti, Buddhism, Sufism and Alternative Christianity.

My hope for the Theosophical Society (and the Theosophical Movement) is that it will continue to be a force for interfaith dialog, based on the understanding that ultimately Truth is ONE.
