Comment by Joe Fulton on April 11, 2013 at 10:12pm It's nice to look back on some of the ideas expressed and reflect on them. Much of the discussion here seems to actually hit the nail on the head.
So what we have is this creative friction taking place between a sort of Theosophic Empiricism and the methodology and philosophy of Science. This is as promising a hint as to the future direction of Theosophy as it synthesizes the currents between traditional esotericism and the scientific method, emphasizing the exploration of commonalities in both approaches while not de-legitimizing either.
One of the hallmarks of Esotericism and Theosophy is the primacy of the mythic elements of life. On one hand we must acknowledge that which is in front of us, i.e. we are/have a body, complete with limbs, brain, etc. To deny this is absurd. On the other hand, there is much we do not understand in the details of how everything in our body interacts with the rest of existence. In addition we have experiences that are difficult to explain...difficult, not impossible. The exploration, then is really one of finding the common grounds between both approaches and honestly searching for the truth. We may find that some of what we believe must be discarded because it just doesn't match the facts as we understand them.
So, yes, we are having good discussions that explore a lot of territory that needs addressing. For those who are serious students of Theosophy, in whatever venue, please read what is being posted and approach with an open, but questioning mind. After all, it is the combination of approaches using inductive and deductive logic which comes up with new insights.
Enjoy!
Hi Ferran,
Thank you. I really liked the subject. I'm happy you liked it.

Hi, Peter! I've liked your post and I'm happy to read you here again! :-)
Imhotep, 5,000 years ago knew Honey killed harmful bacteria and kept harmful bacteria from growing. I wonder what he called it?
Hippocrates, 3,000 years later, learned of it too and then it was lost for another 2,000 years.
Theosophy is what...? A hundred and 24 years old officially? The future is now. What would Olcott and MB think of us? Is there integrity, genuineness, and authenticity in our sharing and searching? Are we not their future?
The future is my present. For example: my Doctorate, (before fate slammed my spine), was to integrate a person's belief system, who was mentally ill, to strengthen their character and help them cope. At a minimum prayer has been proven to have results. Conversely, the dark side too!!!
Another thought of The Future of Theosophy is what I have always wanted to see and always talked about. It's innate integrity belonging in Higher Education.
Science can study science, while Philosophers can ponder over "just because you believe something to be true doesn't necessarily make it knowledge it makes it true belief, then apply it to their studies and students, to aid in their perception of their world and their future.
For Theologists, which I am most comfortable with comparative theology, I have an example to offer. As belief systems are explored I would ask this question.
Why does a mythologist, or theologian, or interpreter of hieroglyphics, like Champollion or Budge, insist that Khepera was believed to be a Beetle, pushing the Sun across the sky. When a Magian Priest knows all too well Khepera is the Soul about to burst forth into a new and glorified form. Where are the Theosophists in education? The latter is a good example of Aristotle's Physics, (Physica). Until I. Newton overturned it; Aristotle's principle was that any thing in motion required a force to be behind it. (Like the Beetle pushing the Sun)? Don't forget, the foundation of Western Civilization, Greece, was born out of a far more ancient time with a far more complicated belief system and science. In any case, Issac Newton changed Aristotle's principle to "any thing in motion tends to stay in motion until otherwise stopped. Ironically, though, Aristotle's principle is making a come back! That's another story.
Of course The Future of Theosophy lies within the boundaries of making the exoteric and esoteric all inclusive. The Future of Theosophy ought to be the standard bearer of ancient wisdom. It is time, it is necessary, for the Fakirs, the Yogi's, the initiates, and other Masters of the secret, hidden, and learned to come out of the shadows for human, animal, and our Mother Earth's sake. Theosophy is a blessing and is an untapped resource for the betterment of civilization.
So when the exoteric thinkers, for example, see Thoth and think, he measures the scales of Anubis to insure accuracy, the creator, of writing, and math. Why then, when Thoth looks into a mirror, does he sees the eye of God? The hieroglyphic symbol of God is the axe. The Egyptians believed in God? Yes, depending on your level of initiation into the sacred mysteries. Why try to explain what is beyond comprehension? Let us begin with ourselves and work toward the Divine. Theosophy would support that and perhaps The Future of Theosophy is to help humanity to return to the Divine beings we once were. If not; Singularity is guaranteed.
The Future of Theosophy as I see it, is a struggle to find its place in a world where concepts have fallen away to processing information, and it will be up to Theosophy to bring us back to thinking, contemplating, and understanding their is more to being human than physical and intellectual capacity.
Hope this wasn't too much. I've been gone a while, and I do mean gone!!
Cheers!
Peter

Comment by Joe Fulton on September 29, 2012 at 8:53am It has been a while since there has been activity here, but alas, great progress is being made. It's kind of backwards and not a bit ironic that to forge our way into the future we have looked solidly into the past. Who would have thought that?
Our journey into the realm of "experience-based" theosophies (new term) is one of constant discovery. It does not require you to get into a groupthink or give up your current belief system. Rather it is a framework that describes theosophy in broad terms, based on how others have experienced it over the years. This fits quite well into today's world where authority decentralizes and people come together and diffuse depending on need.
Hi friends!!!
Well, my opinion is that if we choose to share and help each other bloom, then we have a chance to contact and work with those who are experts in this way of live, from this world or from anywhere. ;-)

Comment by Joe Fulton on February 27, 2012 at 9:44am If consciousness is one and the universe is made of all the same stuff, what difference does it make if wisdom comes from ET or Pogo?
It is the inner experience that is important. How it arrives to the senses makes little difference. Ouspensky had his moment looking at an ashtray.
It it because ET carries more "authority"? It seems that if that is the case whoever speaks on behalf of ET will have lots of followers, be rich and powerful. Sorry, but that sounds like too much responsibility.
Comment by L.A Holmes-Boyle on February 27, 2012 at 8:36am This is the cycle of awakening and using our sense of seeing clairvoyantly, hearing clairaudiently-- and sensing the cosmic vibrations telepathically transmitting to each and every one of us on the global scale.
Each of us is 'in orbit' in our minds--awaiting transmissions from each other and from the galaxy--- we are at present 'on the alert'.
The home circle-- 'the group mind' is converging through the internet sites--
The divine, as has been understood, is changing rapidly...heightening our awareness and leaving us in expectation of the why, where, and the how of it all--This time cycle, has me aware, that each of us, is the nucleus of a divine spark --sparking new consciousness thoughts, ideas--
I see the future teachings from the higher ET beings will continue to gather like-minded souls together empowering 'the wisdom' needed to change our earth's consciousness-- after all we are starseeds--- and the new ETosophy will open the way for us to bloom and share with each other....

Comment by Joe Fulton on February 26, 2012 at 9:13am It is interesting revisiting this discussion with a different mindset and point of view than when it was started.
Rather than looking at theosophy as a set of teachings and ideas, now it is a totally alive, deeply personal and gnosis based endeavor. Looking into the future it seems that the goal is one of bringing people to their truths through the door of inner experience. Does past, present or future really matter? Not so much. However, a life based on a vibrant, alive inner world is one that can also wake up the world.
Perhaps this is what is needed for us to become true citizens of the cosmos.
