Hi, friends!

I am a fan of HPB, and I'm also a fan of Helena Roerich and the Agni Yoga books. My opinion is that Agni Yoga books come from the same source than HPB's. What do you think about it?

PS: I'm not a member of TS or Agni Yoga society.

 Have a nice day, everyone!

If we take the Agni Yoga books and Helena Roerich's statements in her letters at face value (which is not necessarily a good idea), the theory that The Call has been given by Maitreya is incorrect. First off, that book's original and alternate title is Leaves of Morya's Garden I (please refer to a list of AY volumes on the AY Society home page, http://www.agniyoga.org ). Second, Helena Roerich's notebooks (available at http://urusvati.agni-age.net , mostly in the Russian) from which material for The Call and other AY volumes has been excerpted, show that the source first identified himself as Allal Ming (or Allal Ming Shri Ishwara) and then as Morya (or simply M.).

On the other hand, all AY books carry a Sanskrit logo on the cover and on the title page that reads: "Maitreya Sangha."

Thanks for your nice replies!!!
Thanks for the link, Dominique. As far as I know "The Call" was given by Maitreya, and the bulk of the other books comes from Morya. I don't know anything for sure about KH's contribution.
Agni Yoga books have the power of wakin' me up when I feel depressed and I think that are really useful for the serious disciple. The only thing I know about the Agni Yoga society is that they posted the books online, making them available to anyone interested.

Having read a few of the Agni Yoga books, I can't say it seems to me that they come from M or K.H. But then again, I never met either of them--so who knows?

I think one needs to be careful with all channeled materials and take them totally at face value. For one, spending too much time analyzing the supposed source can cause one to miss whatever wisdom might be contained in the work. It may be instructive to ask oneself why it matters whether or not Morya was the one Helena Roerich was channeling--if she was channeling anyone at all.

In my experience, the Agni Yoga books have many pearls of deep wisdom that I've found useful, and they also contain a lot of prose that makes no sense to me whatsoever.

As I first started reading The Call, the question of its "authenticity" hovered on my mind. By the time I started Leaves II, I had decided that it is totally possible that Helena Roerich wasn't channeling anyone or anything other than her own unconscious mind, but that the wise bits were nevertheless wise. Then again, she may actually have been channeling M...but that doesn't render the nonsenical bits any more valuable to me.

What's in a name?

hi to everyone!

I am looking for a serious person with whom it will be possible to discuss Agni Yoga and Theosophy books. Who read Agni Yoga would indicate oneness. Agni Yoga stays that it is the progressive theosophy.

The disciple of theosophy should search for clues for personal implementations of the theosophy and not spend too much time on investigating abstract theories.

Time is passing and we can make ourself Arhats or....just theosophy scientists.

I am on skype -

Thanks to all who have expressed their opinions! I'm sorry, but due to circumstances beyond my control I cannot spend as much time as I wish on this nice website.

Dear Vitaly, I am crazy... but I take the School of Living Ethics seriously.

Blessings from the Heart to everyone!!!

Helena Roerich expressed a great respect for HPB and identified with her, at the same time she attacked Alice Bailey as a dark force.  This is curious since HPB had more in common with Alice Bailey's work than with that of Helena Roerich.

My impression is that the fundamental inspiration behind all the Ageless Wisdom teachings is One.  However, there is variation as a result of different Masters, and more importantly, variation as a result of different channels.  Add to that some variation as a result of individual needs/ray types of the receivers and that incident to different times and cultures.

I think none of the channels, or personalities of the disciples who bring the wisdom to book form is perfect.  Some error and distortion inevitably creeps in along certain lines.  The reason, if you think about it is clear, namely, that all things in the phenomenal world are, by definition, imperfect being far below the Gods behind the stars of Space.  Yet people, being idealists and hero worshipers, expect perfection in  disciple/channels, and these channels often, in effect attribute such perfection to themselves.

Beyond all that, the teachings despite some limitations, remains a wondrous boon to humanity.

Excellent point, James. Thanks for bringing this out.

I've often felt that the acrimony and many of the disagreements of the various metaphysical/spiritual schools of thought, East and West, could be eliminated if all sides accepted that all information/insights, etc., coming from the higher realms and higher consciousness is a stepdown, usually several times, plus, as you pointed out, it goes through the personality of the receiver and the culture of the time involved.

There will never be full agreement of everything, but it can be understood by all that the highest understandings and direct experiences of higher realms will come out expressed in language with seeming paradoxes and contradictions to the logical mind.

Yes, everywhere the mediators of great thoughts show both grandeur and flaws—the best are like magnificent stained glass windows, but with occasional cracks, splotches of dust, or missing pieces.  One must find enough greatness of spirit to love the grandeur while not remaining blind to the flaws.

I do not see total validity or total authenticity in any book or person.  I see that spirit pertains to the essence of things, to the rainbow of spirituality that is the foundation of the universe.  But all verbal formulas provide a picture that is "through a glass darkly."   The texts we have, like our personalities, are never entirely satisfactory.

There are limits to be considered in every verbal formulation as well as in those of us who draw on the formulas.  The value of a good teachings is it's merit as general guideline and stimulus to thought and reflection.  In the details and specifics, and their application to any time and space, there is often much ambiguity and vagueness.  So, in a sense, we are still on our own—otherwise put—the intent of a great teaching is not to turn people into "wind up toys."  Word and conceptual teachings are not the truth, but a catalyst to aid us in our approach to the truth.

Hi.I'm also a fan of HPB and Helena Roerich.Benjamin Creme claims the Master Morya gave the majority of the teachings while other Masters also contributed in particular the Master Koot Hoomi and that the first book 'the Call' is by Maitreya.I must say that after reading most of the Agni Yoga books that this to me sounds plausible.

And speaking of Agni Yoga I love the opening of New Era Community the third book in the series:

"Wayfarer, friend, let us travel together.Night is near, wild beasts are about, and our campfire may go out.But if we agree to share the night watch,we can conserve our forces.

Tomorrow our path will be long and we may become exhausted.Let us walk together. We shall have joy and festivity.I shall sing for you the song your mother, wife and sister sang. You will relate for me your father's story about a hero and his achievements.Let our path be one.

Be careful not to step upon a scorpion, and warn me about any vipers.Remember,we must arrive at a certain mountain village.

       Traveler,be my friend.
