Permalink Reply by Joe Fulton on August 9, 2011 at 11:38pm Keep in mind the world that Leibniz inhabited. General Relativity was still 190 years into the future when he died and the "distant galaxy" school of astronomy was still further decades off. Alas, John Bell comes in the 1980's to save the day with nonlocality. Perhaps we don't understand our world well enough to have a clue about how ET moves, or is it the universe that moves and ET stands still, or are there an infinite number of either in some Platonian space (posited by Julian Barbour) or something that we aren't bright enough to have conceived of yet.
My experience with clarivoyants is that they, for the most part have little true imagination and even less discernment.
Douglas Adams (rest his whatever...at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe) said in the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy: "There is a theory which states that if ever for any reason anyone discovers what exactly the Universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another that states that this has already happened.”
